The first band up for me on Friday were the Welsh trio, The Joy Formidable. I'd seen them in August and was very impressed at how good they are live. In the interim, they'd released their debut album and announced an extensive North American tour which was unfortunately skipping Vancouver, which made them a must-see in Austin. They're very loud and very energetic on stage, but what really sets them apart is how much fun they seem to be having. They're definitely a band with a sound to fill bigger venues and their lead singer, Ritzy, is as charasmatic a frontwoman as you can get. Not a band to be missed if you get the chance.
