I'm not a big fan of churches but the one thing they've got going for them is their great acoustics, which in spite of the wooden pews, makes them a pretty great place to see a band. And really, if any band is tailor-made to play in a church, it's Lanterns On The Lake. Their songs ebb and flow but at their best they build up to a wonderful crescendo. It's thrilling to experience and as enjoyable as any band I've seen. They were my favourite band that I discovered through SXSW and I thoroughly enjoyed both sets I saw. I just hope it won't be too long before I get to see them again.
