I started to hear about Little Scream just before she was announced as support for Sharon Van Etten, who I'd already bought a ticket to see. I like when that happens. Discover a band, band announces a local show. It happened a fair bit in London but Vancouver is not London, so when it does happen here, it makes it that much more special. And of course, expectations are fine, but when they're met or exceeded, it is a wonder to behold. Little Scream on her own (backing band v border, border wins) was funny and sweet and charming and a really great musician. Expectations were definitely exceeded and I became a big fan.
